Personality:

When first introduced, Kyouko Sakura was shown to be a sort of anti-hero and a self-centered, bitter young girl who targeted other Magical Girls as well. It should be noted that she basically has no feelings for others and only looks after herself, not caring what happens to someone if she doesn’t benefit from it. Her ego is the size of Texas, and she takes no heed of what damage she might cause to people if the damage benefits her. She plays dirty, even offering sacrifices to get a grief seed.

In fact, it’s really safe to say Kyouko should never be trusted considering how she acts. She’s not really a likable person at first meeting, with her characteristics and attitude problems. She’s an overly sadistic person, such as when she suggested that Sayaka should break Kyousuke’s arms and legs if she should ever want to be with him forever.

You could even say she can really overreact over the littlest things, due to her bad and fiery attitude she possesses. When Sayaka declined her offer for food, she snapped a bit and almost beat her into a pulp, telling her that she shouldn’t waste food. Her reasoning for this was because Kyouko was a rather poor young girl when she was growing up and food was scarce and rare, so wasting food triggered her a bit. Basically, this magical girl isn’t all hearts and sparkles like what you normally see in protagonists.
But you know first impressions aren’t everything.

Kyouko is a very violent person, that’s true, but deep down inside of her is a young girl who only wanted to do the right thing. Unfortunately, that part of her has been shut down and closed off after witnessing her preacher father murder her mother and sister when he found out she became a magical girl so more people could listen to him. This caused her ideals – to help other people in need – to drastically change. Abandoning her teacher and only friend, Mami Tomoe, her beliefs of Justice, benevolence, she begins to adjustto the lifestyle that “helping others will only hurt you in the end”. She has a soft side underneath that entire attitude, though she doesn’t show it that easily since she shuts everyone out.

She’s bitter because of the events that happened and she doesn’t want to make any friends, knowing that they’ll either die because of her or she’ll abandon them in the end (or vice versa). She’s very cold and cruel to people she first meet. Yet, when someone does earn Kyouko’s trust, they have a friend for life. Kyouko is the type of person that will protect those close to her and she’s willing to sacrifice herself to save the people she loves.

It’s noted that she was pretty cold to Sayaka when she first met her, but eventually she warmed up to her. It’s because her fellow Magica reminded Kyouko of her past self – wanting to help others out and get nothing in return. Kyouko was a fan of those magical heroes in the animes, so she strive to be like them in the past before abandoning that ideal.

Kyouko is a rather playful and mischievous person, maybe a bit more than she should be. Her language is very casual and she has no problems shouting off inappropriate words and phrases. The magica is also not above stealing to satisfy her needs, but she usually commits these crimes during nightfall for some reason, perhaps to avoid getting innocent people involved. This really describes her as a usual schoolyard delinquent, except she has magical powers and not afraid to really hurt someone if they ever get in her way.

In a more “Too Long Didn’t Read” sentence, Kyouko is just a young girl who has way too much trouble expressing how she really feels because of how much she shuts herself off from people, so she easily gives a cruel and uncaring vibe to people, even though she deeply cares about the people she interacts with.

The World of Puella Magi Madoka Magica is a depressing one. Aliens known as Incubators came down to Earth to collect energy, usually from young girls since it’s a lot easier to collect that sort of energy. They make promises to them, saying they’ll grant them a wish as long as they fight witches for them. Their souls are sealed into Soul Gems (which disguise themselves as a ring when magical girls are not in their magica form). Magical girls hunt beings known as Witches, which are results of Magical Girls with corrupted soul gems. They have to fight witches and obtain Grief Seeds in order to “purify their soul gem” so they don’t become witches as well.

Grief Seeds plant Witches Barriers, which hide the witches from normal humans unless they enter it. When a witch is defeated, the Grief Seed is left behind and can be used to cleanse and restore magical power to a Soul Gem.

There are many timelines in Madoka Magica, because of Homura Akemi’s power. This is what caused Madoka Kaname to become a Goddess.

Abilities/Powers:
Kyouko can change into her Magical Girl form and summon her spear. She used to have a special move in which she could split herself into copies, but she is unable to because her subconscious mind has rejected her own wish and along with it her magical ability.

While she cannot use her special power, Kyouko has the ability to charm people (This article and this one part in the same article support that idea very much), which is how she got a lot of her food. She’s also quick on her feet.

Intended Guild: The Hounds. Kyouko’s rough, tough and aggressive but her loyalty really defines her.

+Kyouko has a ton of food in her hammer space. Mostly, she’ll be bringing a few big boxes of Pocky and a bag of apples
+Kyouko will need to cleanse her soul gem, once she needs to she might have to hop back to her world real quick in order to find some witches
